Hi, My name is Wanida Hasung,

I am a poor girl who has no parents to take care of me.   I was living with my relative who is very poor.  I never had the money to take to school, no money to buy the school’s materials but I was happy that I could go to school to study.  Only sometimes I felt I was neglected that I was not the same as other students because I had no shoes, no school bag, no uniforms, no text books but I never gave up my intention to study.

I had the money to buy the school’s uniforms and books and materials when I received the scholarship from the Jeannie Vogt’s Foundation.  I was in the 3rd grade. I was very happy and I was encouraged to study harder.  When I finished my junior high, I went to take the entrance exam of the senior high school and I passed the exam with results to be in the Class A.  I had no money, no parents to sign for me to registration but at least I was proud that I could pass the exam.  I was lucky to receive the scholarship for senior high so I was able to continue my study and I worked during the school holidays and saved the money for my study.

I was able to pass the entrance exam to the Suranaree University.   I have worked very hard and saved the money before the university was opened.   But the money that I have saved up 10,000 Baht was not enough.  I thought that I would not be able to study because I had no money at all but I was proud that at least I have followed my dream to study in the university.  Suddenly there was a miracle, Mrs. Jeannie called me and my sponsor Miss Eiko Wakayama would continue to sponsor my study in the university.  I was so happy and now I have graduated the university and I got my diploma as I have dreamed.  Nobody came to my graduation ceremony and celebrated with me like other students but I was proud that I have stood at this point.

I am working now in the company.  I can take care of myself and my relatives because I have to share with the persons around me and then I will share with the society.   I want to tell the other students that you must have your dreams and you must try to do everything to fulfill your dreams and there will be a miracle.   You will be proud of yourself if you can succeed your dream.

I want to thank you my sponsor Miss Eiko Wakayama because she has given me the encouragement and the good sample for me to follow her.   We must help ourselves first then we can ask other people to help us.

Thank you and God bless you.

Wanida Hasung.

Hi, I am Sudarat Chanboonreuang.

I graduated with a bachelor degree from Mahasarakarm University in Science Faculty.    I have received the scholarship from Jeannie Foundation for the past 10 years.    My sponsor is Mrs. Toshiko Hirata.   I have received the scholarship when I was in junior high until university.  Now I am working at the Thai-Hua Rubber Co. Ltd. In Burirum Branch.   I am working in the position of the Supervisor QC (QC Supervisor of process).   I will receive my diploma this December.   I am very happy and excited.  I was very happy and proud when I received the scholarship because my family is poor.   My parents are farmers, their income is very little.  The scholarship money has helped me and my family a lot. The money that I have received for the past 10 years was a lot and I was encouraged to follow my dream until now I am successful with my study and my career.

I would like to thank to Mrs. Toshiko Hirata my sponsor for her kindness in helping me.  I am very grateful to her.  In the future when I am successful with my work and my income is increased, I want to sponsor the students myself, the same way that I was sponsored.  Now I hope that the students, who are receiving the scholarship, will have the determination to succeed their dreams.  To study is not difficult if we are diligent and endure the hardship.  The success is in our hand and when we reach our goal, we will be very proud of ourselves but most important thing is that we must be grateful to the persons who are kind and good to us especially our parents.

Thanks to my sponsor Mrs. Toshiko Hirata and the members of Jeannie Vogt Foundation.

 With best regards,

Sudarat Chanboonreung

Helping Thai children benefits our own students as well. Thai students who strive to do their best encourage CA students to challenge themselves to their potential. This project also helps our students develop their self-esteem and confidence. Students often think that they have to wait until they become adults to contribute to the society, but this project makes them aware that they can make a difference to someone’s life, someone their own age, by providing a 6,000 yen scholarship a year per student. This amount is equivalent to a CA student saving 500 yen by not buying five soft drinks a month.

The four CA students who traveled with me to Thailand were very surprised to know that Jeannie started this projecttwenty-two years ago, long before they were born. They were convinced that CA should continue efforts to support Thai children. Read the following quotes from these students.
